One of Wayfair’s first retail outlets comes to Florence

Online home furnishing store Wayfair will be opening one of its few brick-and-mortar stores in Florence this fall.

Rumors started flying in April that the company would be opening a Boston area storefront, and now it has been announced that Florence will be among the inaugural real world stores for Wayfair. One of largest online destinations in the world, Wayfair already operates a distribution center that is over 15 football fields in size and is located in Erlanger on 1600 Donaldson Road.

Mayor Diane Whalen expressed her belief that the Wayfair store presents a great opportunity for the community and is evidence that Florence is seen as an active market that continues to spell success for businesses that locate here. Florence’s continued growth is not just advantageous to the business community, but it benefits residents as well. The mayor explained:

“As we continue to expand our economy and streamline business requirements it’s paying off and it continues to pay dividends for this type of facility.”

Whalen elaborated by pointing out that companies such as Wayfair moving here was one of the reasons Florence’s real estate tax has remained stable.

The Wayfair retail outlet store’s business cards will show 5101 Renegade Way, Florence as its location. The opening is expected to take place sometime this fall and more information will be available as the opening gets closer.
