Festival returns to celebrate hip-hop

August 5, 2018 by

The 2nd annual EDL Fest: A Hip-Hop Carnival is taking place at the end of this month in Norfolk.

The carnival will feature games, musical entertainment, art, food and a creative panel discussion. A number of local food trucks will be on hand and an Art Walk is planned.

There will be live art demonstrations, raffles, and a DJ intermission with DJ Havoc and Izzy the DJ. Those participating in the creative panel will be Buzy Baker, DJ Sulay, Ciscero, and Xavious. Music will be provided by artists such as Treez Lowkey, Al Dom, and the Hot Gumbo Brass Band. There will be a Producers Cut/freestyle cipher featuring rappers Lew Sid, New Regime, and others.

Guests can also purchase raffle tickets for great prizes. In addition, local vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of arts and crafts and general merchandise.

VIP tickets are available for $35. Tickets include two beer vouchers, a stadium cup, and a festival T-shirt.

This event can also be a networking event for the hip-hop community in Norfolk, meaning many of the artists may be bringing along their business cards to exchange with their peers.

The EDL Fest will be held at the O’Connor Brewing Company on August 26 from 12:00 noon to 11:00 pm. General admission tickets are $25 each. Call 757-623-2337 to learn more.
