Bellingham goes to the fair

August 2, 2018 by

August is time for the Northwest Washington Fair. The six-day event will have carnival rides, live entertainment, a demolition derby, fair food, and exhibits.

Along with the traditional animal exhibits, the fair will also be displaying quilts, canning items, baked goods, photography, art, and locally-grown fresh produce and flowers.

Entertainment at the Grandstand will include the demolition derby, High Valley, Bret Michaels, and Jeff Foxworthy. Fans will be buying their favorite artists’ promotional products, posters, and tees.

A new carnival will be at the fair this year. It will be the Funtastic Traveling Shows and will feature clean and safe rides and games. Some rides will be the Sea Dragon and spinning Enterprise for the older ones, and kiddie cars and a carousel for the little ones.

The Lynden PRCA Rodeo will take place right in the midst of the fair. Rodeo fans will enjoy saddle bronc riding, bareback riding and of course bull riding. Timed events will include tie-down roping, team roping, and steer wrestling. Bellingham kids can try out Mutton Bustin’.

The fair will be from August 13 to 18 at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds and Event Center, 1775 Front Street in Lynden. Gates will open at 9:00 am and close at 10:00 pm each day. The rodeo will be August 14 and 15 beginning at 7:30 pm. The carnival will be running from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm daily.
