Bellerose jams with Jamaica

Jamaica Arts and Music Summer Festival (JAMS) 2018 will mark its 22st year this weekend.

Over 200,000 area residents are expected to attend the two-day event, which will feature a moonlight concert and a festival that will cover 10 blocks of downtown Jamaica.

Friday evening will have JAMS Under the Stars. The free concert will be performed by jazz, rock, funk and R&B music and dance from both local and national artists. Kids’ activities will be available before a pre-show.

The festival the following day will have multicultural food, shopping, and live entertainment. Along with information booths in the health-and-wellness block, there will be a Fitness for Life Challenge The venue will also offer information on Queens community resources including representatives from the NYPD.

There will also be a Business Appreciation Event where local businesses will be distributing promotional products, business cards, coupons, and information about their goods and services.

Bellerose kids can enjoy the free rides and activities in the JAMS Health & Wellness Kid Pavilion, and older kids will enjoy the rock climbing wall. There will be a bevy of classic cars on display for motor enthusiasts.

Jamaica Jams 2018 Under the Stars will get underway tomorrow, August 3 in Rufus King Park, 89 Avenue, Queens starting at 5:00 pm. The festival will be Saturday, August 4 from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm in downtown Jamaica.
