Canton gets ready for Hall of Fame Festival

Officials are predicting a record turnout for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival coming up in Canton, and have made some changes to make it easier for people to get to the festivities.

Among the changes, according to Kevin Shiplett, the Vice President of Operations/Facilities for the Hall of Fame, is an improvement to the interchange to the Hall from the neighboring expressway. The interchange has presented a problem for 50 years, but the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has worked on it. Shiplett said the Fulton Road and I-77 exits, along with the weave on Route 62, have recently reopened, and should make it easier for drivers to reach the area.

In addition, the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) will provide bus transportation between the Stark County Fairgrounds to the Hall of Fame. All members of the public will be asked to park at the fairgrounds and ride a shuttle, which will drop them directly in front of the gates to the stadium.

Shiplett says the Hall of Fame and SARTA work well together, and have an agreement by which the Authority provides a continuous shuttle for the short trip between the parking lot at the fairgrounds and the Hall.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival is set for August 2 to 5. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to indicate specific parking areas.
