Major music event on the schedule in Lansing

August 1, 2018 by

For the 24th year, Lansing will welcome the JazzFest, one of the city’s major events.

Music will resound through Old Town streets, which also offer historic architecture, unique shops, and colorful art galleries. Nationally-known performers will join regional and local artists on a variety of stages, with some of the musicians appearing in Lansing for the first time.

The artist for the first day of the festival on the Turnaround Lounge Stage is the Mike Daniels Trio.

The Main Stage, which is on Turner Street in the 1200 block, will be the setting for Sencalar/Glassman Quintet, Elden Kelly, and Aguankó featuring Alberto Nacif. An “afterglow” is set for the Urban Beat Event Center, where 496 West will appear.

The second day brings the Tony Viviano Trio to the Turnaround Lounge Stage, while the Main Stage has the LCC Jazz Band, the JAMM Scholarship Group, the Jeff Kressler Quartet, Cindy Scott and Brian Seeger, and Roger Jones and Higher Calling. The afterglow at Urban Beat features Kevin Jones and 10thWorld.

Also on tap at Urban Beat is KidzBeat, where Bob Wilson and Joshua Wilson will mentor guitar and bass players.

JazzFest is set for this weekend, August 3 and 4, and a full schedule with performance times can be found on the festival’s website. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to share schedule information.
