A Newport Beach developer has been selected to carry out a $330m renovation of Dana Point Harbor.

Dana Point Harbor Partners presented its ideas on July 2 at the Ocean Institute to the Dana Point Harbor Advisory Board. The group discussed the project development and construction with about 100 people. Byron Ward of Burnham-Ward Properties and Joe Uberroth of Bellwether Financial Group gave the group a detailed presentation of the renovation and construction schedule.

This project is an effort to develop the harbor and turn it into a tourism destination. The fifth district supervisor, Lisa Bartlett, says she is proud of the project and the plans to revitalize the harbor.

The project will include reconstruction of the west and east marina and upgrades to the Marina Inn Hotel and 52 guest slips. The developer will design, fund, and build the improvements to the harbor.

Construction will begin with building a garage to park 1,800 cars. After that project, work will commence on Dana Wharf and reconstructing it on the land side. They will remodel the Marina Inn and eventually demolish it and build a new hotel with 226 rooms. A building with shopping, restaurants, and a surf museum will be constructed too.

Dana Point has print shops that assist companies, restaurants, associations, retail shops, and clubs with promotional products for marketing and special events.
