Scottsdale children get festival

Once the new school year excitement has passed, children here in Scottsdale will be more than ready to enjoy the 2018 Children’s Learning and Play Festival coming in September. This will be the third year for the free event and over 13,000 attendees are expected

The Barnes and Noble booth with have 10 children’s authors reading their books during Storytime and meeting the children throughout the day. Costume characters such as Pete the Cat and the Cat in the Hat will also be on site talking with the little ones and posing for pictures. Fans of these characters may be taking these photos to local print shops for possible poster printing and copies.

The Lego play area will no doubt keep many kids entertained for hours. Kids will also get to participate in many arts and craft projects.

Toddler Zone will be there entertaining the littlest ones as the tots explore and play in a secure and safe area.

MoSS will be presenting a S.T.E.M. and Sustainability Zone that will have hands-on activities and experiences that will test hand-and eye-coordination and mental agility. Kids will build marshmallow and straw towers, harness the sun’s energy into powering lightbulbs, and make and race Lego cars.

The Dino Crew will bring its lifelike mechanical dinosaurs.

Children’s Learning and Play Festival will be September 8 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm at WestWorld, 16601 N. Pima.
