Danbury enjoys dance under the stars

As part of the Newtown Savings Bank’s Fine Arts and Family Series, Connecticut Ballet will be presenting ‘Ballet under the Stars’ shortly.

Brett Raphael, the company’s artistic director, will be the narrator for the evening. Part of the program will be a premier of Raphael’s new work and also a premier dance by choreographer Eve Chan. A duet by company dancers and Raymonda Variations will follow.

The evening’s performance will conclude with Darrell Grand Moultrie’s ‘Pulse’. Pictures of the performance could go to a local stationery printers to be made into personalized stationery, or to print shops for poster printing.

Ted Thomas will be instructing a free ballroom dance class on stage before the evening’s performance. All members of the audience are invited to participate, and comfortable sneakers and shoes are suggested. Folding chairs, blankets and binoculars will be welcome, and food and drinks can be also purchased on site in the concession area.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, and no charge for children under 3.

Ballet Under the Stars is slated for this Sunday, July 15 from 7:30 until 9:00 pm at Ives Concert Park at Western Connecticut State University, 43 Lake Avenue Extension. Doors will open at 5:30 pm. This event will take place rain or shine. The free ballroom dance class will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
