Upcoming run raises funds for local volunteer ambulance

July 13, 2018 by

The 7th annual Run for Your Life 5K is taking place next month in Commack. It is a fundraiser for Commack Ambulance and is sponsored by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

The run is open to people of all ages and is US Track and Field (USATF) certified. The fees are $25 until July 21 for the general public in advance or $30 on the day of the run, and $20 for EMS, fire and police members. The first 200 to register will receive an event T-shirt, and all participants will be given bibs.

Awards will be handed out to the Top 3 Overall male and female finishers and the Top 3 Overall EMS/fire/police finishers. Awards will also be given to the top finishers of each gender in the various age categories, which include 12 and under, and 65+.

There will be water stations on the route and participants will have access to a free video and pictures of the race finish. There will also be post-race raffles.

No doubt people will come from nearby communities such as Smithtown to compete in this important fundraiser. Local print shops often provide the bibs and T-shirts given to participants.

The Run for Your Life 5K will be held at Sawmill Intermediate School on August 11 beginning at 9:00 AM. To learn more, call 631-499-9342.
