Patchogue goes golfing for charity

July 11, 2018 by

Patchogue golfers can be part of the first John Taglienti Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament that will be held in a few days.

The 18-hole tournament will support the fund, which is given to a William Floyd senior athlete who is going into the teaching profession.

A putting contest will take place half an hour after registration starts. Lunch will follow the contest and after that will come the shotgun start. A cocktail hour will greet the golfers at the conclusion of their rounds and the evening will end with a reception, dinner, and awards ceremony.

The dinner will be buffet-style and will feature a Chinese auction.

Golfers can sign up individually or as a foursome. Those not wishing to participate can still get tickets for the dinner. Many local businesses will no doubt be buying these tickets as corporate gifts.

Players will receive gift bags containing event sponsors’ promotional products, samples and coupons.

Contests will be for long drive, putting, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one. Winner of the hole-in-one will receive a two-year lease on a new jeep. The format will be a foursome scramble. The putting green and the driving range will be open during the morning.

The John Nicholas Taglienti Memorial Fund Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 16 at Mill Pond Golf Course 300 Mill Road, Medford. Registration will begin at 11:30 am.
