Annual block party coming to Lansdale

The Cannoneers, a social club in Lansdale, is planning its annual block party. Everyone is invited to enjoy food, fun, and beverages, including barbecue; plus loads of activities.

Children will get a kick out of the dunk tank and moon bounce, and having their faces painted. Older guests will enjoy watching robotics team shows, listening to live music, and drinking Rita’s Water Ice.

The Cannoneers Sportsman Club started in 1946, when the members of a ball team known as the Cannoneers were looking for somewhere to relax after the game. Instead of taking turns sitting in one another’s basements, the group created the Cannoneers Sportsmens Club. Once they had a “home base” set up, they began to think that if they could support their own team, there was no reason they could not support others.

With that idea in mind, the Cannoneers began supporting other teams, both youth and adult, which has led to the group sponsoring thousands of teams of all ages throughout the community. Among the organizations the Cannoneers have organized is their Youth Football and Cheer Program, part of the national Pop Warner effort.

The Cannoneers Block Party is set for July 15, from noon until 6:00 pm. Tickets are already on sale priced at $10 general admission, while children under ten are free. People who wait until the day of the event will pay $15 each.

Organizers of this sort of event often use banner printing to create colorful decorations.
