Phlebotomy the focus of Charlotte event

July 9, 2018 by

The art of drawing blood is just one of the skills needed by many of those who work in the healthcare field, and a course that will be offered in Charlotte will focus on phlebotomy.

The workshop, which is intended for current healthcare practitioners, will give a basic introduction to phlebotomy and the steps to follow when drawing blood. It will include a review of the different test tubes and additives that are used, and well as the proper draw order to follow and also the use of both the winged infusion set and the evacuated tube system.

The short course has been developed following national guidelines, and will run from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Participants may qualify for up to 0.65 CEUs if they successfully complete the training. If there is time for it in the schedule, a review of the set CLSI guidelines for heel and finger sticks will also be included in the day.

The registration fee for this learning opportunity is $169 each. Training manuals and other materials for this sort of occasion can be crafted by local print shops using comb binding and other techniques.

The Carolinas College of Health Sciences will be offering this educational opportunity on August 9. It will be held at 1200 Blythe Boulevard in Charlotte, and anyone who feels it will be helpful to them is welcome.
