Upcoming plant show and sale highlights local growers

The Bay Area Designer Plant Fair is taking place in Lafayette next month. It is a presentation of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, California Chapter (APLD).

The fair is set to showcase a number of local growers and plant nurseries. Among those appearing this year will be the Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery and the Urban Farmer Store. It will feature educational presentations about growing plants and about landscaping hosted by experts in the field. This is also a good event for students of landscaping, since attending will give them 1.5 hours of APLD continuing education units.

Attending the fair will be a networking opportunity for those students and for other gardeners and landscapers who are members of or planning to become members of the APLD. Attendees may meet future employers or form new entrepreneurial partnerships.

The fair will also offer a variety of plants for sale as well as free plant raffles.

This event draws several hundred people each year and is the sort of happening often advertised in the Lafayette area by flyers provided by local stationery printers.

The Bay Area Designer Plant Fair will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Building on August 14 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Tickets are $20 for APLD members, $40 for nonmembers and $30 for students. For more information about this event and to purchase tickets, visit the official Eventbrite website.
