Malden comes alive with the sound of music this summer

The Malden Summer Concert Series will be returning this month.

Held on Tuesday evenings, the concerts are free and begin at 6:00 pm. Kicking off the series will be the Brothers Walk Band on Tuesday, July 10. The concerts are held in Malden Square, so attendees can enjoy the many fine restaurants in town after the concert.

Another free concert series over the summer is one run by the Malden Public Library and Eastern Bank, sponsor of the series. This series was made possible by the director of the library, Dora St. Martin, along with the first mayor of Malden, Elisha Converse and his wife Mary, who helped build the Converse Memorial Building in the 1880s through their donations.

These concerts are held on four Wednesday evenings over the summer. On July 11, the performer will be Mamadou; on July 18, the Squeezebox Stompers will be performing; on August 1, it will be Knock on Wood; on August 15 will be Outdoor Movie Night.

The Feast of Saint Rocco will be returning for the 89th year from August 10 through August 12. There will be a parade, music by several artists and bands performing New Orleans jazz, and featured comedian David Russo.

Flyer printing companies can also be used to publicize such events throughout the community so that residents can make plans to attend.
