Tustin small breed dogs prepare for races

June 22, 2018 by

Dachshunds and all other small dogs are welcome to take part in the upcoming Wild Weiner Round-up Races.

The Old German Restaurant is sponsoring what it believes will be a day of fun for pets, owners, and families. Spectators do not need to have a dog to watch the races from the patio and enjoy the German food and beverages available during the races.

Guests can meet the dachshunds currently looking for a home during the ‘show and tell’ event and buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win fun prizes. They may wish to do some poster printing afterwards, as there will be photo opportunities.

Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children (ages 4 – 12), and free for anyone under the age of 3. Anyone under 21 must have an adult accompany them. The races will continue even in the event of rain. Entrance to the race is $15 per dog, per race (cash only) and all dogs must be on a leash when they are not racing.

The races are this Sunday, June 24, at the Old-World German Restaurant at 7561 Center Avenue in Huntington Beach. They take place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with any small breed animals welcome to join. Dachshund-only races start at 1:00 and all dog owners must register their pets before noon to compete. All other breeds must register prior to 2:00 pm for the races that start at 2:30 pm.
