Rockville Center asked to show support for cops fighting cancer

June 23, 2018 by

Two police officers from the Rockville Center area are engaged in a battle against cancer, and the public has been asked to show their support for a fundraiser that is being held in their honor.

The afternoon function will offer a chance for people to share four hours of fun with their friends and family, and there have been lots of activities added to the agenda for the occasion. The funds raised will be donated to Officer Kenny Jenkins and Detective Jamie Atkinson, both of whom serve with law enforcement in the local area. Officer Jenkins is fighting colon cancer and Detective Atkinson is battling a rare form of cancer his doctors feel is a result of his working at ground zero after 9/11.

The fundraiser will include a buffet-style meal, and there will also be even split draws, raffles, and other fun. The MTA Police Pipes and Drums will give a performance, and T-shirts that have been specially designed for the cause will be sold. Print shops can be called upon to provide items such as this for a community function.

The ticket price for the occasion is $100, and this includes the meal as well as beer, mixed drinks and soft drinks. It will be taking place on July 1 at Mulcahy’s Pub in Wantagh.
