The 66th annual Portland Highland Games are taking place next month in Gresham.

The main draw of the festival will be the heavy athletics and running competitions. Participants will be competing in sports such as the caber toss, the Portland Stone, and the hammer toss. Some of the athletics will take place on the evening before the games, as well as Piobaireachd (Highland bagpipes classic music) competitions.

A number of clan tents will be set up so visitors can learn more about their heritage or the history of Scotland. There will be pipe bands, drummers, and Highland dance performances. There will also be fiddle demonstrations, musical workshops, and a sheep dog demonstration. In addition, guests can take part in whisky tasting.

A variety of Scottish-related products and gifts will available for purchase. Food and drink will also be provided for sale.

No doubt people of all kinds from Portland may be interested in attending the nearby games. Many of the vendors may invest in services such as banner printing to make their booths more attractive to visitors.

The Portland Highland Games will be held at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham on July 21 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tickets are $17 for one or $33 for two adults and $8 for youth aged 8 to 17; a family pass is $45. For the most current information, call 503-293-8501.
