Local anglers of all ages are gearing up for the 38th annual Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament coming in mid-July.

The six-day event will have a general tournament with prizes going to the 10 largest fish and 10 aggregate teams. The angler who catches the biggest kingfish will receive a boat, motor and trailer worth $86,000. The top aggregate team will receive $10,000. Anglers can also opt to enter the Redfish Tournament and win a kayak.

Female anglers will have their own competition sponsored by nature’s Own and Flowers Baking Company.

The Jr. Angler Tournament for kids ages 15 and under will have prizes for the top 25 places. The competitors will be fishing from boats. Only kingfish will be weighed to determine the top winner.

The Kids Dock Tournament will take place on the floating docks and pier. Top prize will go to the child who catches the most fish through a running total measure of all catches, measured from nose to tail. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entrants. Each child that registers will receive a T-shirt and a captain’s bag each sporting the event graphic design.

A Kingfish ‘boutique’ at the six-day food and exhibitor festival will vend tournament promotional products such as T-shirts, hats and mugs.

The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament will be held from July 16 through July 21 at Sister Creek Marina, 8203 Heckscher Drive.
