Canton’s Players reveal next season

June 9, 2018 by

The Canton’s Players Guild Theatre recently announced its lineup for the 2018-2019 season.

Theater lovers can attend plays at either the Mainstage, which is upstairs in the cultural Center for the Arts, or downstairs in the W.G. Fry Theatre, also known as the Arena.

Among the shows is ‘The Full Monty’, a musical based on the film of the same name. The story is about six unemployed steelworkers who decide to earn money by stripping, after seeing how much their wives enjoy the Chippendale male strippers. Although the original is set in Sheffield, England, the musical has relocated the action to Buffalo, New York.

Also on the way to Canton is no less a composer than Giuseppe Verdi, whose opera ‘Aida’ has been reinterpreted by Elton John and Tim Rice. Although the songs are new, the plot still deals with the tragic love triangle among the Nubian captive princess Aida, the Egyptian princess Amneris, and Radames, the man they both love.

The holiday season brings a musical version of Dickens’ classic ‘A Christmas Carol’, and the New Year comes in with a trip to Narnia in ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’. The season winds up with a musical version of the tragic events aboard the ‘Titanic’.

The new season starts August 10. Organizations like this can make events even more fun for audience members by working with a poster printing company to create collectible-quality advertisements for the shows.
