Blood donors sought in Snellville

May 29, 2018 by

A call has gone out to residents of Snellville to give a gift that can make all the difference in the world, and may even save a life.

The community will be hosting a Blood Drive, and the organizers hope that people in the local area will be generous. It takes very little time to make a donation, and there will be staff and volunteers on hand to make the whole process go smoothly.

Upon arrival, a donor will be greeted and signed in. They will be asked to show their ID, receive some details about the process of giving blood, and learn about the eligibility requirements. Next, there will be a review of their health history, which will be both confidential and private, and after this the individual will have their blood pressure, pulse, and hemoglobin checked.

The next step is the actual donation – this takes about 10 minutes, and the donor can lie down or choose to remain sitting up. Once this is complete, the person will be asked to rest and enjoy a refreshment before leaving to go about the rest of their day. A printer can supply stickers, promotional pens, pins, and other items to give to those who make a contribution to thank them for their help.

The blood drive has been planned for this Friday, June 1 at Briscoe Park. The doors will open at 1:30 pm, and more details about giving blood can be found on the Red Cross’s website.
