Dark Room debuts new patio

The Dark Room at the Grandel, located in the Grand Center Arts District in St. Louis, recently opened a new patio that has room for 35 people to sit and enjoy a meal or a drink under the sky.

The area sees a lot of pedestrian traffic, and the patio offers views of downtown St. Louis, the Angad Arts Hotel, the new Arts Academy Plaza, and Powell Hall.

Surprisingly, although the district draws many people who would like to have a drink or a meal before (or after) a show, there have not been many culinary options in Grand Center. The opening of the Dark Room’s patio is looking to change that, as is the Dark Room itself.

With chef Samantha Pretto in charge, the Dark Room has transformed from a small bar to a destination restaurant. It is located in the Grandel Theater, and is marketing itself as the place to go to dine before attending the theater, particularly for patrons who want to avoid having to park several times during the evening.

Its popularity has led Dark Room management to announce expanded hours. The restaurant will be open seven days a week, beginning at 4:00 pm daily, with various closing times.

Businesses like this might distribute promotional products during the opening weeks, to show appreciation to patrons and build the brand.
