Lancaster ramps up the celebrations

The city of Lancaster is hosting two celebrations next month that should help kick off the summer season in style.

The first event will be Celebrate America with Thunder, which will be held on The Blvd between Genoa and Beech Avenues. As part of a salute to the military and veterans, there will be musical entertainment, a car show and cruise-in, and a pie eating contest. There will also be live statues and a fireworks display at 8:50 PM.

Just over a week later, the 9th annual Barn Bash, a fundraiser for the Antelope Valley Fair Livestock Council, will be taking place. It will feature games, music, a barbecue, and a live auction. Proceeds will go to benefit livestock programs and scholarships. Sponsorships are available and donations are still being accepted for the auction.

Both of these events will get citizens of Lancaster out to celebrate their community. Local stationery printers often help to advertise them by providing items such as flyers and brochures.

The Celebrate America with Thunder celebration will be held on June 8 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Call 661-723-6000 for more information.

The Barn Bash will take place at the Antelope Valley Fair and Event Center on June 16 beginning at 5:00 PM. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Contact Paula Markley at 661-965-4575 for up-to-date information.
