Petaluma evening to showcase farm to school movement

May 21, 2018 by

Petaluma family farms are part of a movement to bring fresh produce to school cafeterias, and a special event will help to raise awareness of this new concept in food security.

Guests who come to Five Springs Ranch for the Farm to School Summer Gala will be treated to a full schedule of activities which includes a chance to sample dishes prepared using locally sourced ingredients. The organizers explained that their goal is to showcase what can happen when family farms and area schools work together to supply healthy lunches to students.

Along with the food, there will be drinks and live entertainment, all with a backdrop of views of the North Bay. Guests can tour the farm which has been adapted to use solar power, and they can even give lassoing a try. Happy hour is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm, and dinner will be served at 5:00 pm.

Tickets for the function start at $100 each, and a special rate is being offered for a table of six. Stationery printers will be able to provide printed menus and other items that can help to make an occasion like this even more memorable for those who take part.

This demonstration of what farms and schools can accomplish when they work together will be held on July 29 at 4497 Adobe Road. The Farmers Guild website is the place to go for further details.
