North Versailles invited to show some love to homeless vets

Homelessness can be an issue faced by veterans in the North Versailles area, and members of the public from the local area have been invited to make a difference in their lives by extending them a helping hand.

The Morningside VFW’s Scout Troop 3945 has organized a pancake breakfast fundraiser, and it will include all the extras. Guests can enjoy a meal of pancakes as well as eggs, sausage and other breakfast items, and the while they relax and socialize over their meal, they will be helping homeless veterans in need.

The proceeds of the occasion will be used by members of the Troop to create “survival bags” filled with toiletries and other items. Those who come out are also encouraged to bring along a donation of products such as bottled water, granola bars, nail clippers, baby wipes, new warm socks, basic hygiene items, and toilet paper to be included in the bundles.

The care packages will be put together and then distributed to homeless veterans throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. The support of the local public is greatly appreciated. A printing services provider can supply bag labels and other materials to help make a service project like this a success.

The pancake breakfast is on the agenda for June 3 at 1820 Morningside Avenue in Pittsburgh. More details are available on the event’s Facebook listing.
