Cirque Du Soleil is coming to the area in mid-May.

VOLTA is this year’s new show under the big top. This event will run for 21 days in late May and early June. As the name indicates, this show has a jolt of energy running through it from start to finish.

The show will tell a mesmerizing story to upbeat music, with a high-octane performance incorporating acrobatics and striking visuals.

Families will be part of the story – The Elites represent instant stardom, the Free Spirits are life-loving and kind toward others, while the Greys are inert city dwellers.

The main character, Waz, is metaphorically illuminated on his journey by Acro Lamp. This aerial artist hangs on the wire to maneuver in long sweeping arcs.

A daring duo perform a hand-to-hand stand on a moving unicycle and a tumbling acrobats perform some shape diving. Five riding daredevils will show off their acrobatics on the BMXs, and Flatland & Ballet will perform synchronized choreography.

There will be hip-hop, tumbling and flipping during the rope skipping act, and acrobatic artists will be spinning out over the audience on two giant articulated ladders.

Many corporations around the Bellerose area will no doubt be buying tickets to use as corporate gifts.

The opening performance of VOLTA will be May 17 at 8:00 pm at NYBC Live, Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale.
