North Versailles weightlifters invited to support cancer research

April 20, 2018 by

The North Versailles area will soon be playing host to an event that will give competitors a chance to do some heavy lifting in support of pancreatic cancer research.

The contest, which will be open to mixed pairs, has been planned as a fundraiser for the Wayne Fusaro Pancreatic Cancer Research fund. The organizers noted that their goal is to, at the end of the competition, see Pittsburgh’s strongest pair crowned while also increasing awareness of this disease and the research currently underway in the quest for a cure.

Those who participate in the occasion will take part in four different events, each of which comes from its own strength discipline. Powerlifting, Olympic Lifting, and Strongman will all be included, and the day has been planned to be both friendly and fun.

The planners noted that, to date, the fund has been able to donate more than $400,000 to cancer research and they hope to add a significant amount to that total. Print shops will be able to create awards and an assortment of promotional products for an event like this.

This activity, which will see the local weightlifting community come together in support of a cause, will be taking place on June 16 at Alpha Athletics, which can be found at 811 Boyd Avenue in Pittsburgh. More information is available on the organizer’s website.
