Pancakes for Pelotonia on the way

For the 10th year, the Ohio State University at Newark is gearing up for the Pelotonia, a bicycle ride to raise money for cancer research, and celebrate survivors of the disease. One of the fundraisers for the ride is the Pancakes for Pelotonia breakfast, which is scheduled soon.

Money raised at the breakfast will go to support Ohio State Newark’s Team Buckeye—Rolling for a Cure, which will ride in the event later in the summer.

A tutor and student at OSU, Lisa Ford, said riding with thousands of others is both exhilarating and daunting, but is about more than riding a bicycle or raising funds to help find a cancer cure. She believes it is an event that is uplifting and stimulating to all five senses at once.

This will be the fifth year Ford will ride, and this time she will be participating in the program known as ‘I Ride for You’, which pairs students with cancer survivors. Ford says the program creates a connection between the riders and the survivors, who learn that they have not been forgotten.

Pancakes for Pelotonia will take place from 8:00 am until noon, April 21, at the John L. and Christine Warner Library and Student Center at OSU Newark. In addition to pancakes, fresh fruit, bacon, coffee, or juice are also on the menu.

Organizes of events like this might work with a banner printing company to create festive banners to mark the route.
