Miami to recognize champions of its urban forest

Miami Tree Week is a special event that celebrate the local urban forest, and it will culminate with a special evening event.

The occasion will both recognize the importance of city trees and thank those who have lent the week their support. It will open with a cocktail social, which will be followed by a program and reception.

The featured guest speaker for the occasion will be Miami’s Chief Resilience Officer Jane Gilbert. She will discuss the efforts that have been made by the city, along with other stakeholders, to build its climate resiliency. Moderation will be provided by Jed Daley, who is American Forests’ Vice President of Conservation Programs and considered to be an expert in the field of climate solutions involving forests.

Awards will be presented to Bank of America and Million Trees Miami to recognize their efforts in support of Community ReLeaf. This will be followed by a reception that has been sponsored by both Bacardi and Coca-Cola Beverages Florida. An area printer will be able to supply corporate gifts for an event such as this.

This event is being offered free of charge to anyone who would like to attend. It will be taking place on May 3 at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail. Anyone who is interested in finding out more can do so through the American Forests website.
