Massapequa Park residents invited to Arbor Day Family Festival

April 14, 2018 by

The tree-planting holiday is to be celebrated at the Planting Fields Arboretum.

A family-friendly event is available for anyone that would like to spend Arbor Day at the preserved 409-acre estate known as Planting Fields. The event will include many activities including live music and other live performers, a petting zoo and caricaturists. Face painting will be available, the LI Railway Association will be on-site with a model train display, and all attendees will receive free tree seedlings.

The Planting Fields Foundation is co-hosting the two-day event with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park is protected by its non-profit foundation that was established by the former owner of the estate. The foundation protects the mansion and grounds and works to continuously improve the gardens.

The home and the grounds are available to tour and the scenic grounds are a popular wedding location. Those considering a rental for their own wedding ceremony can attend tour the location during the event and contact the arboretum about a reservation before contacting their printing services for their invitation order.

The Arbor Day Family Festival is April 28 and 29 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. The Arboretum can be found at 1395 Planting Fields Road in Oyster Bay. The fee is a $20 per vehicle.
