Bellerose local museum gears up for spring

Queens County Farm Museum will be holding a carnival and a Spring Fest within the next couple of months.

The Children’s Carnival is an annual event that local kids look forward to. This year it will occur on two weekends in April. Carnival rides will be included in the $15 entry fee. There will also be midway games with prizes and hayrides. Food vendors will be on site with carnival treats.

In May, a Spring Fest will be in full swing as visitors get to see sheep shearing and wool spinning demonstrations, get a tour of the working farm, and learn about the Community Compost Program. Gardeners may pick up vegetable and flower seedlings from the greenhouse. The Con Edison Ecology booth will have displays, and demonstrations on recycling. Live music will be playing and there will be kids’ crafts too.

Families can feed goats, tour rustic barns and a farmhouse, see fields being readied for planting, and take a good look at livestock. Kids will enjoy watching the farm machinery in motion. Pictures of family members enjoying the farm can go to stationery printers for unique personal stationery.

The two events will be at Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Floral Park. The carnival is scheduled for April 7 and 8, and again April 14 and 15 from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm. The Spring Fest will be May 12 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.
