Santa Ana area fundraiser planned

An event is on the agenda for the Santa Ana area that will give special needs kids an opportunity to strut their stuff in support of a cause.

The Spooner Girls Foundation has planned the Irvine occasion in support of research being conducted at the local UC campus. The fashion event will raise funds that will be used in the search for treatments and even a cure for Mitochondrial Complex I Deficiency, which is a rare genetic condition.

The evening will include drinks, dinner, a fashion show and also a screening of “I am Especially Beautiful – Hear My Voice”. There will also be time for attendees to meet and socialize with other special needs families who understand the challenges they face, and several baskets will be up for auction as well. All are welcome, and anyone who would like to help but who cannot attend the occasion in person is welcome to make a tax deductible donation to The Spooner Girls Foundation. Banner printing and other print services for this type of charitable function can be obtained from an area print company.

This fundraiser, which will give special needs kids a chance to shine, will be taking place on May 3rd at 16662 Hale Avenue in Irvine. Anyone who would like more information or to purchase tickets can contact the organizer through its Facebook page.
