Lafayette celebrates Earth Day

March 13, 2018 by

The 13th annual Lafayette Earth Day Festival is taking place next month, and is a presentation of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Lafayette, and the City of Lafayette.

Earth Day takes place all over the United States on April 22, and communities put on special festivals to help educate the public about environmentalism.

The Lafayette celebration provides educational activities for people of all ages. In past years, children have been able to create art out of recycled materials in the adventure playground, recycle crayons, take guided creek walks, and participate in a bike rodeo. It is likely the same activities will be offered at this year’s festival.

Visitors will be presented with healthy food options and can shop from a variety of local vendors. Two of those vendors that will be participating in this year’s festival are The Urban Farmers and Imperfect Produce.

The Lafayette Awards of Environmental Excellence (the Green Awards) will also be announced during the festival. The awards are given to residents, businesses, schools, and organizations that are dedicated to becoming sustainable.

It is likely that the festival will be advertised using materials obtained from a Lafayette flyer printing firm.

The Lafayette Earth Day Festival will be held at Lafayette Library and Learning Center on April 22 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. For more information, visit the event website.
