Bellingham gets ready for Runnin’ O’ the Green

March 2, 2018 by

Bellingham Parks and Recreation invites all local fitness enthusiasts to participate in its upcoming Runnin’ O’ the Green run/walk. This year the event will feature two distances – a three-mile walk/run and a mile run.

Participants will receive shirts and electronic Virtual Race Bags containing coupons and promotional products from local businesses.

This year the course will be along N. State Street over crushed limestone paths and public road. The start location at Depot Market Square and first leg of the course is the same for both runs until the runners get to the gorilla. Then the 5 K runners will turn right and the 8 K runners will go forward. Both races will end back at the starting line.

There will be sixteen age categories and three top male and female finishers in each race will receive engraved glass trophies. All volunteers and participants’ names will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Everyone can take part in the after-race festivities that will include traditional dancers and the band, Maggie’s Fury. A parade starting on Cornwall Avenue in the 1800 block will begin at noon and end between Boundary Bay Bistro and the Depot Market Square on Railroad Avenue.

The race will take place on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th and will begin and end at 1107 Railroad Avenue. Start time will be 10:00 am. There will be a time limit of one hour.
