Upcoming concerts put spotlight on the classics

February 8, 2018 by

Chagrin Arts recently announced the performances that will make up its 2018 series, which emphasizes classical music.

First up is the Factory Seconds Brass Trio, which comprises members of the Cleveland Orchestra. The players are Richard Stout, trombone; Jesse McCormick, horn; and Jack Sutte, trumpet. The program includes Arcadelt’s chansons, and a sonata for brass trio by Poulenc.

Next on the schedule is the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, which plans to put its own twist on familiar standards from the jazz repertoire.

The legendary Judy Garland comes to Chagrin Falls courtesy of singer Joan Ellison. Ellison plans to present a number of songs Garland made famous throughout her career, starting with the movies she made for MGM. Among the songs are ‘You Made Me Love You’, ‘The Trolley Song’, and Garland’s signature ‘Over the Rainbow’.

The final concert in the series features the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, but no details of the concert have been released as yet.

The Factory Seconds appear March 2, 2018, at 7.30 pm, at the United Methodist Church on South Franklin Street. The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra also plays at the Methodist Church, on April 6 at 7.30 pm. Joan Ellison appears April 29 at 3:00 pm, at the Performing Arts Center, located on the Chagrin Falls High School Campus. The Cleveland Pops are scheduled to appear October 21. Tickets for all these shows are on sale now.

Events like this can be more fun if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create programs for the concerts.
