Mansfield dons winter gear for Snowman Run

January 8, 2018 by

The Snowman Run 5K and Family Fun Run is scheduled for later this month. This event is an interesting way to keep families fit during the cold months.

Participants will receive race shirts that will have three “coal” buttons down the front. Each runner is encouraged to add winter accoutrements such as a hat and scarf to complete the wintery outfit. Prizes will be awarded to the most original snowman costume. Dogs can accompany the runners and can be dressed up as snowmen for the costume contest. Families of the winners will want to bring cameras to capture the moment for later poster printing or personalized stationery.

The run will be timed with awards going to the top three finishers in each of the four age divisions – eight years and younger, nine through ten, eleven through thirteen, and fourteen through sixteen.

Registration fees for both kids and adults in the 5k and in the Family 1 Mile Walk will be $20.

A “warm down” area at the end of the route will offer finishers s’mores fixings and hot chocolate around a large warm fire pit.

After the run, everyone is invited to attend a free showing of ‘Frozen’ in Farr Best Theatre.

The 2018 Snowman Run and 1 Mile Family Walk will be January 20, starting at 9:00 am in Katherine Rose Memorial Park, 303 North Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield. Check-in begins at 8:00 am.
