Janesville has month of local talent performances

January 7, 2018 by

Janesville can enjoy a number of performances by local talent during January.

Dueling Pianos will be an evening of two local Rock County pianists battling for top honors.

Janesville’s Musical Comedy Troupe will be an comedy improve show where local artists take suggestions from the audience to create a “musical”. Five local musicians will be supplying the music.

The One Act Festival will be three evenings of short one-act plays directed, acted, and produced by local talent.

An unaired television show entitled ‘Strange Inc.’ will be shown later in the month. Our own John Gage has written this film about Bachelor’s Grove (a supposedly haunted graveyard) and Manteno State Hospital, which also has been the subject of paranormal claims.

Wisconsin’s songwriter/singer community – Folk at 408 – will be giving the final performance of the month. Proceeds from this event will go their scholarship program ‘Arts for Everyone’.

All performances will be at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, 498 South Main Street and most will start at 7:30 pm. The Janesville Musical Comedy troupe will be on January 12, Dueling Pianos will January 13, The One Act Festival will be from January 18 through 20, Strange Inc. will be at 2:00 pm on January 21, and Folk 408 will be on January 27, starting at 7:00 pm.

Many of these performers will be available for future events, so guests will want to remember to get their custom business cards.
