Bakersfield starts 2018 with Rio Bravo Rumble

Local physical fitness enthusiasts will want to mark their calendars for the upcoming Rio Bravo Rumble sponsored by Glinn & Giordano Physical Therapy. This will be a series of combination run/mountain bike races held on private land.

Categories will include the Individual Duathlon, which will be a 10k run followed by a 15-mile mountain bike trek. Solo Events will include 10k run, a 5k run/walk and a grueling 15-mile mountain bike trail. A Team Duathlon with teams-composed of all female, all male and mixed- will be a competition including a 15-mile mountain bike race following a 10k run.

The runs will include a 1000-foot climb over six miles of the course while the bike route will climb 2200 feet along the 15-mile trail. The Ultra Half Marathon – a run over 15 miles of cow trails and fire roads – promises to be very challenging.

Short-distance kid races will have two categories – one for kids ages nine to twelve and one for kids under nine. These courses vary in difficulty and length depending on age of participants.

The Rio Bravo Rumble will be January 13th, 2018 at Rio Bravo Ranch, 15701 Highway 178, Bakersfield. Registration will be from 7:30 until 8:30 with races starting at 9 am. Adult fees will be $40 -$80 per category and $20 for kids 18 and under accompanying a paying adult. The free kid races will begin at noon. Bike Bakersfield will receive proceeds.
