Hospitals joining to build new pediatric facility

January 1, 2018 by

Akron Children’s Hospital and Aultman Hospital are planning to team up to build a primary care facility for pediatric patients.

The facility, to be known as the Akron Children’s North Canton Health Center, will be located on a medical campus including the former North Canton Medical Foundation, as well as the diagnostic center run by the Aultman Medical Group.

The planned facility will span 38,000 square feet and be three stories high, with offices of the hospital itself, and pediatricians, pediatric nurses, and nurse practitioners working with babies, teens, and children on the first floor.

The second floor will house outpatient services such as allergy and sports medicine, while the ground floor will offer physical therapy, among other disciplines. Groundbreaking is planned soon, and it is believed the center will be completed by late 2018. The pediatric hospital will lease the facility from Aultman under a long-term agreement.

Akron Children’s plans to consolidate operations here from other centers in Stark County, including primary paediatric care, and approximately 12 pediatric specialties and rehab services. North Canton’s Aultman facility will become a family-oriented care center.

Projects like this have a great impact on a community, so officials might consider working with a brochure printing company to create illustrated booklets for potential patients that show what the new facility will be like.
