Photo contest won by Frankfort resident

December 22, 2017 by

The winner of the Preserve the Moment photography contest of the Forest Preserve District of Will County for the month of November was recently announced, and was a resident of Frankfort.

The winning picture was of a birdhouse with a bluebird flying out of it at Hickory Creek Preserve, and was taken by Michael Fagan.

One of Fagan’s hobbies is to shoot plant, wildlife, and landscape photographs as he walks through the Preserve close to his home. The district said the category for the photo contest for the month of November was structures, so that any structures found in the Preserve that were man-made could have been included.

The contest will continue to run this month, with no category specified as long as the photograph was taken after May 1 in a Will County forest preserve. The winner for December will be chosen on December 31. Voting for the best overall photo among the eight monthly winners will be open to residents of Will County.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, with a messenger-style bag going to the first-place winner, a digital photo frame going to the second-place winner, and a Michaels gift card going to the third-place winner. A gift is given to those who enter the contest.

Flyers are often used to promote such contests and encourage residents to participate in the voting.
