Northvale calls for waste management bids

December 14, 2017 by

Northvale has put out a call for bids in order to find and sign a contract with the company that will collect and dispose of solid waste and recyclable materials for the next five years. Interested companies need to prepare their bids quickly.

The company will be required to perform specific duties at specific times; for example, it will be required to pick up solid waste twice a week, on Monday and Thursday, with collection beginning no earlier than 6:00 am, and ending by 4:30 pm at the latest. Collection must take place throughout the entire borough, but in no event will a collection be made on Sunday, unless there is an emergency. If the chosen contractor wants to make any changes to the schedule, the request will have to be approved by both the council and the mayor.

In addition, there will not be any collection made from commercial concerns under this contract. However, twice-weekly collections will be made from houses, occupied dwellings, public schools, the fire house, churches, the American Legion, and the VFW, along with all the borough’s facilities.

Detailed information about the issue is available on the city’s website.

The period for bids to be turned in begins today and runs through Tuesday, December 19, with the bids being opened at 11:00 am on the Tuesday.

Measures like this might benefit if officials work with a postcard printing company to create a mailing card to likely bidders.
