Iconic Spartanburg restaurant finds new home

The Simple Simon café and diner recently moved from Pine Street to McMillan Drive in Spartanburg, continuing its 60-year tradition in the city.

Manager of the restaurant, Tabitha Hadden, said the move was necessary because a multistory building that will be over 19,000 square feet in size will be developed by Centennial American Properties based in Greenville at the current location. This new building will be the home for the anchor tenant, United Community Bank, and other retail, office, and restaurant tenants.

Hadden added that the iconic sign of the restaurant will eventually be installed at the new location, but she is not sure of the exact date. There will be better parking and improved accessibility at the new location.

Simple Simon will be opened from 9:00 pm until 2:00 pm the next day seven days week. Its favorite menu items for breakfast and lunch will continue, along with daily special and sandwiches. Breakfast will be served all day including, the eatery’s well-known pancakes and omelets.

One of the chefs, Helen Colvins, has been cooking for two years, and enjoys the people interactions and making new friends at the restaurant.

Flyer printing companies could be used by eateries such as Simple Simon to create flyers with information about new locations, as well as weekly flyers for any specials that might be planned.
