Redding invited to Turkey Trot

November 23, 2017 by

Redding runners and their families are getting ready for their Thanksgiving Day feast by participating in an early morning Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.

The trot will have three activities – an eight mile wheelchair race and run, a two-mile walk/run and a kids’ Diestelhorst Dash.

The event will open with a 45-minute packet pickup period followed by the opening ceremonies. Kids will take off next in their Diestelhorst Dash, and 25 minutes later the Wheelchair 6-mile race will begin.

Five minutes after the Wheelchair race begins the six-mile runners race will start. The two-mile Fun Run/Walk will commence 45 minutes after the six-mile start. An awards ceremony will take place at the close of the event.

Prizes will be awarded to three runners in each age category with additional prizes going to the top three women and men overall winners. Timing will be done electronically, and winners’ friends and family will be taking photos for future poster printing.

The two-mile Fun Run/Walk will be for everyone including families. There will not be any timing and finishers will receive participation ribbons.

Kids running in the Diestelhorst Dash will get a special treat. The race will begin and end at Diestelhorst Landing on Benton Drive, Redding.

Participants in the six-mile race will start their race on Court Street’s East Side while the two-mile runners and walkers will begin their route at the corner of Elk Drive and Carnelian Way.
