Carlsbad kids invited to take over the kitchen

November 14, 2017 by

A Carlsbad area event will be bringing kids into the kitchen to whip up some freshly baked macaroni and cheese, which will be followed by a dessert of scones they will make themselves.

Chef Daniela will be leading the group as they prepare, measure, and turn the basic ingredients into a dish they can try for themselves. The macaroni will be made with three different types of cheese, and the scones will include seasonal fruits. The kids will and cut the dough, shape it, and watch it bake into a sweet treat.

The class is geared for kids who are over six, and while parents need to be on site, due to size constraints, they will not be permitted in the room with them while they cook and bake. The cooking methods used will be taught using hands-on techniques, and participants are asked to wear close-toed shoes and something to tie their hair back if it is long. A catalog printing company will be able to prepare recipe books that can be given to each boy or girl who participates in a class like this.

This opportunity for kids to take over the kitchen will be taking place in Encinita’s Lazy Acres Moonlight Room. The ticket price will be $20 per child. More details can be found on its Facebook listing.
