Fuquay Varina brings in holiday season with parade

November 12, 2017 by

The 2017 Annual Fuquay Varina Christmas parade, sponsored by Cricket Wireless and Massengill Design Build, is just weeks away.

Spectators are invited to bring small banners, lawn chairs for themselves, and a blanket for the little ones to sit down on the curbs.

There will be marching units and local school bands. Two kinds of floats will be participating this year: one will be hand-crafted entries that will be built by the float sponsors, while the other will be pre-decorated floats that can be purchased by local businesses, organizations and individuals. A portion of the registration fees for the hand-crafted floats will be given to the Fuquay Varina Arts Council. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning floats, with the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council judging the entries on presentation and artistic creativity.

The route this year will begin by David Anthony’s gift shop at the intersection of Woodrow and North Main Streets, and will wind its way through the retail district in downtown Fuquay. It will then travel back down Academy Street and end by the middle school on Woodrow Street.

After the parade, the Young Professionals of Fuquay-Varina will be hosting an after party.

The parade will be December 3 starting at 3:00 pm. The after party will be at the Aviator Tap House, 600 Broad Street.
