Conroe ushers in the holiday season

A look at the calendars shows that Conroe will be getting into the holiday spirit in the next few weeks – from the Tree Lighting to the traditional Christmas Celebration and Parade.

The Tree Lighting will begin the holiday season. In addition to lighting the town tree, this will be the beginning of the light displays and the Christmas music in Downtown Conroe.

The Annual Conroe Christmas Celebration will take place a couple of weeks later. This event will have two hills with real snow, face painting, a train, camel, and pony rides, a live nativity scene and a petting zoo. Carriage rides will take passengers through the downtown area. Live entertainment will be going on throughout the event.

The Kiwanas Club Children’s Christmas Parade will be the major draw, and “It’s a Wonderful Christmas” will be this year’s theme. Members of political, commercial, and nonprofit organizations will be creating and manning floats, which will be judged at noon with awards given for first, second, and third place. Santa Claus will be bringing up the rear.

Clermont Tree Lighting will be November 28, starting at 6:30 pm at Heritage Place, 500 Metcalf Street. The Conroe Christmas Celebration will be December 9 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm also at Heritage Place. Lastly, the Kiwanis Club Christmas Parade will also be on December 9 and will begin at 1:00 pm. Admission to all three events will be free.
