Historic Fairhaven will be starting its holiday season with a two-day event called Winterfest coming at the end of November.

Father Christmas will get the event started with an appearance at Fairhaven’s Gazebo at the corner of Harris and 10th Streets. Several locations will have candles burning outside their establishments to show their participation in the Annual Holiday Art Walk. Christmas treats will be available at businesses that will be participating in the Holiday Open House.

The next day, Father Christmas will be greeting children in the lobby of the Fairhaven Village Inn. Street corner performers and musicians will rotate around four locations entertaining the crowds with holiday music and shows. The Bellingham Circus Guild will be performing on the Fairhaven Village Green alongside local nonprofits that will be handing out flyers and selling wares at the Holiday Market.

The Lighting of the Christmas tree, which will be located between 1 Paper Boat and Fairhaven Village Inn, will begin at dusk. The community is invited to attend and sing Christmas carols.

One activity that will begin during Winterfest and continue throughout the season will be the Window Display Contest. Saturdays will feature horse drawn carriage rides and Find the Elves Treasure Hunts.

Winterfest will be at the Fairhaven District, 1000 Harris Avenue, Bellingham on November 24 from 3:00 pm until 8:00, and from noon until 8:00 pm the day after.
