Tustin Company expands via double acquisition

Two distributors of specialty building products have recently been acquired by Foundation Building Materials, Inc., a Tustin-based company.

One of North America’s largest specialty distributers of ceiling systems, wallboard, and insulation, Foundation Building Materials (FBM), has issued a press release revealing the recent addition of two similar businesses.

The new members of the FBM family are MCS Door & Hardware (MCS) (located in Bryan, Texas) and Del-Pro Building Supplies, Inc. (Del-Pro) of Ontario, Canada. Stationery printing changes to MCS and Del-Pro’s letterheads will likely take place to reflect their parent company.

In its press release, Foundation Building Materials’ CEO Ruben Mendoza explained:

“Senior management from the acquired companies will continue with FBM to ensure a smooth transition and quick integration.”

MCS is an independent distributor of hardware, frames, doors, and toilet partition products, while Del-Pro handles basement blanket, insulation, wallboard, steel framing, and spray foam products as an independent distributer. Each will contribute to FBM’s growth strategy as well as facilitate its expansion of the products it offers.

While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it is anticipated that both companies FBM acquired will continue to perform as they have recently and will contribute a combined $10-12m in sales per year. The company has over 3,500 employees spread out across its 220 branches in the United States and Canada.
