Annual celebration salutes local veterans

November 8, 2017 by

The 21st annual Long Beach Veterans Day Celebration and Open Street Fair is taking place this month.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘A salute to those who served’ and it is hosted by Vice Mayor Rex Richardson.

The day will start off with a parade at 10:00 AM. Marchers will gather at the veteran’s mural then travel along Atlantic Avenue to the Michelle Obama Library. There will be five grand marshals this year, including Ivan J. Houston, representing the military, and Wini Carter. The parade will feature music, floats, flags, and military.

After the parade, the street fair will be held at Veterans Valor Plaza, and is set to feature plenty of family-friendly activities and entertainment. There will be a Kids’ Zone, a beer garden, and vendors selling a variety of merchandise. In addition, there is set to be a tribute band concert, and food will be available for purchase. The fair will also feature a career expo for veterans with information about resources and services.

Events like this are often advertised with posters and other materials provided by Long Beach stationery printing firms.

The Long Beach Veterans Day Celebration and Open Street Fair will be held on November 11 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To learn more, call Beth Rustuen at 562-760-3078.
