Butler to host farmland leasing workshop

November 6, 2017 by

An event that will provide information about farmland leasing has been planned for Butler, and anyone who is interested has been invited to attend.

The Farmland Leasing and Land Opportunities workshop is open to both those who wish to lease some of their farmland so that it will stay in production, and also anyone who would like to lease some land to farm. There will be a discussion of the legalities of the process, the necessary documents for this type of transaction and a variety of other information that may be helpful.

The speakers for the workshop include Penn State’s Agriculture & Shale Law Center’s Sean High, who will be providing a detailed perspective on the legal issues that can surround leasing a farm. Land protection managers, a representative of PA Farm Link, and a panel of farmers will also be participating and adding their input. There will be time for a question and answer session, and those who attend will also have the opportunity to network with one another and share premium business cards.

Everyone who comes to the event will walk away with a package of documents and other resources that may be of use to them should they decide to lease their property, or be looking for one to lease.

The Farmland Leasing and Land Opportunities Program workshop will be taking place at 625 Evans City Rd. in Butler on November 30. The deadline to register is November 27.
